Why are people so careless?

Today, I just met a friend of mine after a week. There were some horrible bruises on his hands. It's quite painful to see someone in that condition when you are trying to aware people about the dangers of careless driving. Not only my this friend but, many people around me, I see being careless with their life. As these days are heavy rainfall days, vehicles, especially two wheelers are highly prone to accidents. The roads remain quite wet, even the condition of the roads gets worsen. People drive recklessly and become victims of accidents. Just cant understand why are people so careless? Why dont they take care of their vehicle's speed? Why dont they wear helmet? Why dont they concentrate on their driving? After all, why people don't follow the Road safety measures. People actually dont understand that these measures are made for their own safety by the government, who is after all concerned for it's people's wellbeing. The Traffic Police is meant for the safety, obviously. But, that does not means that all responsibilities goes to them. We also have some duties towards the government and the department for our safety. The rules are made for us, we must follow them.
We know every minute 14 persons die due to road accidents in India. It doesn't matter where the accident takes place. The important point is that accidents take place anywhere and everywhere and at anytime. We just cant run away from this fact that we can also be a victim of these accidents. But we can surely protect ourself from these accicdents and thats our responsibility. We must all take these rresponsibility to take care of ourself and people around us. We must see that each child and adult is being educated about the road safety measures. Start awaring your near and dear ones about their safety and live happily.

The face behind that Uniform!

Hi friends, Iam back with something new this time.I always spoke to you about the project and all that happens while work. Today, I thought to write something different and thought-worthy.
Have you ever wondered about the face behind that Uniform? Do you ever think about their life, their family or even about them itself as a human! These are the people who happily wear that white-khaki uniform before leaving their home with lots of hopes and wishes to be fulfilled, as we do. The only difference remains is that we are protected and they protect us. They have to do a duty of atleast 12hrs. a day! Sometimes it gets extended upto 24 hrs. Tirelessly they work diverting the traffic, making the ways clear so that we travel smoothly and safely. But to our greatness we refuse to follow the rules and create indisciplene on the ways, thereby jamming the streets! We always try to play tricks with them by running away or doing such other useless acts. These people who leave their family, friends, relatives, wishes, hopes, dreams, etc. They accept their transfers as per the government decisions. They perform their duty each time with perfection even risking their life every time.
They are also human beings. They are not here to give their life for us! Why dont we care for these little things? After all there is no substitute for a life! People try to dash these officers on the roads while they clear the traffic. And this isn't something just told by me. But it is an incident which I have witnessed!
Some days ago, ACP Karandikar was clearing the traffic with her officers at Mankoli (an area near Bhiwandi) when suddenly a four wheeler tried to dash her and a RTPC. It first hit the RTPC- Ganesh More and Then tried to run away speedily! During all this it hit ACP Karandikar too! But by God's grace and luckily they were safe and no serious injuries took place.
Driver of the four wheeler which hit the officers.
Can you answer a question for me now- atleast ask this to yourself- Can you replace these people by any other for their dear ones? Can you get the same Ganesh as a son to his mother? We don't have answers to these questions, since we don't care about such things in our rushing life.
Atleast not for us, but we must follow the rules for their sake. Because they also having that human face behind their UNIFORM!

Our Good Little Cops.

Hi friends! Iam back with an all new beginning in our project! As we see whatever is tought to us at the primary level or at the youngest age, gets stuck in our soul and character forever. As such we are trying to bring a change forever, we must try to make every step a permanent one. Hence we have now takenup one more task for our project-
These days we are framing school kids to become more responsible youths in the coming years. This activity was inaugurated from Scholar English High School, Bhiwandi. Other schools are also co-operating in this activity. Here we have distributed our volunteers according to the medium (language) of the school which are- English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi. The volunteers are Ms. Afaf Ansari for English medium schools, Ms. Monica Madhvi for Marathi medium Schools, Mr. Swapnil Bhoir for Hindi medium schools, Ms. Sana Momin and Ms. Taslima Sheikh for Urdu medium schools. We arrange lectures in these schools for each class seprately and teach them about road safety. We explain them about the rules and safety measures. We give them tasks for interacting with their family and friends. We play 'Traffic games' with them to make them understand the disciplene of driving in a practical way. We arrange competitions for them like painting competitions, speech competition, essay writing competition, skit competitions, poetry competitions, etc. to make each task interesting and entertaining for them. We have also got a Movie made by Educom- School cinema to show them. The film is based on the dangers of breaking of traffic rules, which the students enjoy a lot. We make these kids our Good Little Cops to keep a watch on the nuisance around them.
MY FIRST EXPERIENCE AT SCHOLAR ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOL-

Let me tell you about my very first lecture at Scholar English High school. I was a bit nervous because i did not prepare at all for the lecture sine was busy in my own academics. When I reached there, all the questions in my mind about what to teach these little kids just vanished! The kids were so cute and disciplened that before the lecture, I started playing with them! Such lovely kids! They all got so excited to see Police Constable Manoj Kadam sir in their school that they just rushed too shake hands with him (we reached there in the break time). Then we interacted with the Principal, a real gentle lady, Madam Vishakha Sutar. The story of success of the high standard of the school lies in her high spirits. Madam Sutar was also a bit nervous to see me, a little undergraduate girl, to teach the students! She even asked me lots of questions but finally i got class IV C (fourth-C). The kids were so respectful, as i entered the class. Then i started to introduce Traffic to them. But to my amazement, they themselves gave all the answers! And they were so interactive that I just enjoyed teaching them. They even complianed about their family members, friends  and relatives not following the rules. They also shared their experiences about road accidents!

So readily they took the homeworks and the tasks I gave them and then they were so eager to know when I was coming back to meet them and same was me! I was not at all feeling to leave them. Even ACP Rashmi Karandikar madam was amazed at their co-operation.
The next week we invited the DCP Traffic Thane, Vikram Deshmane sir at the school, where we had a great session once again. Will be writing about the session soon! Till then keep visiting and take care! BYE!

Monsoon's here.... Let's get prepared!

Rain-Rain come again,
We wanna play another game!
Now no rain-rain go away, come again another day! Not only little johnny, but we all are ready to play games in rain! But, is it all about games during the rain? A big NO! Many of us love to drive in rain and many of us have to drive, anyway! So why not take some precautionary steps while going for a drive in rain? Lets see....
1.    Roads  become  slippery  after  first  showers  due  to accumulated  dust and lubricants. Hence drive carefully and  avoid sudden braking.
2.    Check wipers, car  battery,  tyres &  your  spare tyres. Replace worn out tyres.
3.    Check brakes, break  oil  and  condition  of  the brake axle and brake liners.
4.     Keep a  spare  muslin  cloth  near  the steering wheel for cleaning the dampness on the windscreen as well as the rear view mirror.
5.    Keep a  small  hammer  in  the  vehicle  for  breaking the wind screen of    your   vehicles,   if    the   central   locking   system  fails.  Also keep  a  small  torch  handy  in  your  car's  cabin.
6.    Keep  a  fire  extinguisher  in  your  car  and  a  First  Aid  Box.
7.    Keep  sufficient  quantity  of  fuel  in  the  fuel  tank.
8.    Get  your  air  conditioner  serviced  before  monsoon.
9.    Pickup  traffic  updates  on  the  F.M  Channels  before starting your  journey. The  updates  are  provided  to  all  F.M  Channels  by  the Traffic Control Room.
10.  Visit   Traffic   Police   Websites  for Emergency  Parking  lots, weather   forecast,    route   diversion, High Tide Timings and more information.
11.   Please  go  through  the  list low lying areas  in your city,  that generally  gets  flooded  during  monsoon  an choosing the alternate  route  for  your  journey.
12.   In  case  of  heavy  water  logging,  leave  the car at assigned parking  places.  Avoid   Frantic/repeated   calls   as   such   calls   jam   the  cellular  networks.
13.   Whenever  high  tide  is coinciding  with  heavy rains, the rain  water clogs  the  drainage  system. This  results  in  flooding  of  low  lying  areas.
14.  Check  the  central locking system of the vehicle and tool kit of your  car.
15.   Pool your cars, save fuel and the hassle of driving yourself everyday.
16.   Keep  2  litres  of  water  and  dry snacks  in  your  vehicle. It will  come  handy  if  you  are  trapped  in  jams.
17.  Try  staggering  office  hours  to  reduce  congestion  in   the  Public Transport System.
18.   Do  not  panic. Traffic  Police  is  always  there  to  help  you.  Call  Traffic  Police  Control  Room  of your city and ask for help.
19.   Help others in distress - whenever & where ever possible.
At such times accidents take place frequently and people even lose their lives! so what should one do at time of accidents:
 - Halt your vehicle
    - Remove the injured to the nearest private / Govt. Hospital
    - At the Government Hospital, give your name, address and relevant
information of the accident to the duty constable stationed at the casualty
    department.
    - Wait in the hospital for arrival of the duty officer from the Police
    Station.
    - If you cannot give first aid or medical treatment to the injured at the
place of the accident because you are surrounded by a mob, then you must  report this incident immediately to nearest Police Station.

As per the provisions of sections 134(a), (b) r/w 187 M. V. Act Driver failing to do so is liable for three months imprisonment or five hundred rupees fine or both.
So lets be safe and save others! Take Care!
To avoid this please drive safe.

My journey from a Citizen to Traffic Police Ambassador....

Hi friends! Just thought to talk to you once more. People always think that we can't access the Police easily. But ask me. I was also a common girl who just struggled to make her life more successful evry time. Wahi regular schedule, go to college, do the NSS work, go to job (part time), come back home, do the household work, take dinner, study and finally to bed! Whooooo.... Quite busy but a simple life. Regular and normal. No exitements and no adventures! Suddenly one day our NSS Programme Officer cum District Co-ordinator Prof. Anis Choudhery, invited me to the ACP Bhiwandi Traffic Office. I had no idea of what's gonna happen there or why we have been called there. There was anxiety and nervousness inside and even a huge confusion- What do we NSS volunteers have to do with the TrafficPolice?? Well left it as it is and reached there with lots of questions and confusions in mind and a horribly beating heart! We had no idea who's the ACP of Bhiwandi Traffic Police.
Wow.... after entering the office, this was my reaction when I saw the beautifully smiling ACP Rashmi Karandikar Ma'am welcoming us warmly. Iam a girl who never visit police station before this and seeing a lady sitting in the chair of ACP was a real encouraging moment for me. Bhiwandi is a town where ladies are bound to stay in the house serving the family. But when Rashmi ma'am can become an ACP why cant we girls do anything good for the society?
We discussed the project and understood Rashmi ma'am's initiative. Then we started taking up our tasks with all our volunteers and started moving ahead slowly. slowly and gradually I understood the working of traffic police, their grievances, their enjoyment, their life... and their heart very closely. People always have this misconception that the police is corrupted. But believe me friends its not like that. If we co-operate with them they are the best helpers in the world. As a common citizen I have seen them very closely and its a real beautiful experience being with them! Today my day starts with them and ends with them too.  I take breakfast with them, my lunch goes with them and sometimes the last meal, dinner too! I understand their plight. We fight together, we discuss together, we play together..... Thinking of work? Well, we do all these while working together! ;-)
